Former VC of BHU to Lead Amity University Jaipur

An eminent educationist and a profound administrator Prof. (Dr) Rakesh Bhatnagar has been appointed as new President (Vice-Chancellor) of Amity University Rajasthan, Jaipur. He will be in charge of strengthening the research, technology, and holistic development of the University.

Rakesh Bhatnagar has been appointed the President of Amity University, Jaipur. He has also taught at JNU.

Prof. Rakesh Bhatnagar, former Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has been appointed as the President of Amity University, Jaipur, Rajasthan. He was also the Vice-Chancellor of Kumaun University, Nainital for six months and had taught at Jawaharlal Nehru University, leading centres and departments as chairperson, director and dean. At JNU, Prof. Bhatnagar was in the Special Center for Biotechnology working on the molecular biology of infectious diseases, vaccines and programmed cell death.

With over 35 years of experience in education, Professor Bhatnagar has served as a Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University, Kumaun University, Nainital and the Jawaharlal Nehru University at various important positions like Chairperson, Director and Dean.

Achievements

  • Prof. Rakhesh Bhatnagar is the recipient of the President’s Award for Innovation.
  • He also won the ICMR (Indian Council for Medical Research) award for his outstanding research work in the field of immunology.
  • Prof. Bhatnagar has been ranked 7th among the top ten eminent researchers who have published commendable research papers on anthrax by the open-source Global Anthrax Research Literature.
  • An alumnus of the National Sugar Institute, Kanpur, Bhatnagar is an Elected Fellow of all three major science academies of India, the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore and the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad.
